Étienne Jolicoeur who is originally from Quebec City, thought for nearly two years about moving to Montreal. This busy entrepreneur had long been making constant round trips to Quebec’s largest city. So moving permanently was a logical choice. This year after much reflection he packed his stuff into a few moving boxes and made Yimby his new home.

Recently he spoke out about the move.

An apartment in the heart of the thriving Rosemont district

“I like a fast-paced life where lots of things are happening!” says Étienne who hates routines. That attitude suits this “jack of all trades’” professional life, which includes juggling modeling gigs and work in the hospitality industry. These days most of his time is spent on his new business developing a loyalty tool to attract customers to bars and restaurants.

So what drives a guy from Quebec City to settle in Montreal? Étienne says that having access the bid city's thriving shops and the nightlife were major attractions. Living in Yimby, a few steps away from thriving Masson ticked those boxes. Étienne is always willing to make room in his busy agenda to try new experiences.

A light move to Montreal

When Étienne began thinking seriously about moving to Montreal, Yimby Rosemont was a logical choice, as one of his friends was already a tenant there. The complex offered everything he needed: a soundproofed living environment that reflected his active lifestyle, common areas and a major bonus: a roof terrace.

“It's simple. It's beautiful… We can just enjoy it!” says Étienne, who comes off as relaxed and completely at ease with himself. “Everything is close at hand.”

For example the 33-year-old entrepreneur didn't worry about much his move to Montreal which he made with his bags packed relatively lightly. Étienne notes with disarming calm that he sold almost everything he had in Quebec City beforehand. That’s because his new Yimby apartment included appliances, a retractable bed, and much more. Étienne did however do some shopping to personalize his space and complement the few things that he bought along.

Decorating tips for a “young adult’s” apartment

When settling into a new environment, personalizing it in your image is a key step in feeling at home. This new Montrealer has an infallible tip: “I always make sure to add a few touches just for me. This can include decorations, special lights, or an atmosphere that I try create."

Étienne already had a favorite spot in his new home after just one month there. He pointed with a slightly embarrassed laugh to a special entertainment center where his installed a room projector and full size screen! He also hung a tiny, charming light arrangement, to create a precise and perfect atmosphere. Perfect for a movie night!

Another Yimby trick: keeping things tidy

While Étienne prioritizes decoration and a feel good environment, keeping his crib clean is also a must. The one area of his life in which he accepts a routine, is in his household chores. He loves a tidy apartment. This is one of the things that makes him feel the most like a “young adult.”

What could be better than cleaning up without even realizing it? When Étienne leaves his apartment to run errands, he turns on his automatic vacuum cleaner and lets it do the work. When he returns, he often takes advantage of the free time to invite friends. Because being a young adult also means being able to enjoy a good glass of wine on the terrace while watching the sunset.
